Our Mission Statement:
The Jewish Environmental Coalition of the North Shore (JECNS) recognizes that we must act as guardians of the earth for future generations.  In our efforts to sustain the environment we must be engaged on multiple levels.  We will educate our community and will promote and execute programs directed at TIKUN OLAM, REPAIRING THE WORLD, in the context of the environment.  we will engage the greater community of North Shore jews to work at the synagogue, institutional, religious education, family and individual levels.  We will establish measurable goals and share successes and challenges on an on-going basis.  We seek to be facilitators in moving our North shore Jewish Community toward doing its share to help improve and sustain the environment.

The JECNS is composed of rabbis, lay leaders affiliated with synagogues, and Jewish organizations throughout Chicago's North Shore who recognize the Jewish community must act as guardians of the earth for future generations.
